How can we ever understand the present and the future if we don't understand our past? Learning about where our country has been is essential to understanding where our country is going. If you didn't live during the Civil Rights Era, you can't imagine what it was like. How awesome it would have been to see a group of people unite and stand up for what is right. Civil Rights Activists knew the possible outcomes and consequences of their actions, but all of that seemed small compared to the injustice they felt from the country they called home. Children under the age of 18 have a much smaller chance of hearing first-person accounts of what it was like to live in during the Civil Rights Era. It is up to adults to pass on the soul-moving stories and events of what took place in our country during desegregation. This website was created to not only inform, but to show you what it was like in Charlotte, North Carolina during degregation. The legacies of Martin Luther King, Jr and Rosa Parks will be passed on for many years to come; but it is just as important, if not more so, to educate ourselves in what was going on in our own community. After exploring this digital museum, you will have a full understanding of what Charlotte, North Carolina was like during the trying times of Desegregation.
